Academy Of Slayage Episode Four (Unreleased)

This was the forth episode of the Academy of Slayage series, which I never finished. I published the the first three episodes in the summer of 2003, but then halted work due to a number of issues (see my next post). Sometime that fall, I began writing another episode, but never finished it because I got busy with school.

“What are you reading?”

Willow looked up at the freshly showered Slayer across the room and adjusted herself on the bed. “Oh, an article one of my students researched about a Slayer who was turned in Germany a long time ago. It is a pretty gruesome tale.” She paused. “Buffy, stop standing in the doorway. You are going to get sick.”

Blushing, Buffy wrapped the towel around her body tighter and walked over to her luggage to slip into a pair of boxer shorts and tank top. Sliding into bed next to Willow, she got under the covers and looked at her friend with a smile.

Willow put down the article and leaned back on her pillows. She folded her hands as she faced Buffy. “so, tomorrow, big day, you and me, huh?”

Buffy smiled at the thought of her best friend being so close. “Yes. You are going to meet me tomorrow night. You decided we should meet in a discreet location, this time at least. The Slayer beamed for a moment, not realizing how much she looked like Faith when she did it. “Apparently I am quite the hero for all the new Slayers.”

Willow rolled her eyes. “Of course you are, Buffy; you saved the world, a lot, as they say.” She paused for a moment before continuing. “It’s time for you to wake up from this dream. Actually, I guess I am probably waking up now too aren’t I?” Willow stopped and laughed, which made Buffy laugh too. “I even babble in *your* dreams.”

Smiling at her friend, Buffy got into bed with her and whispered good night, shutting off the light next to her bed. A moment later she woke up, disoriented. Once she had her bearings she walked over to the window of her hotel room and opened the curtains a little to let in the gray British morning. She stood for a minute and stared out at the early morning bustle before laughing to herself.

“Don’t I usually have those dreams with Faith?”

Here my only note is “Dawn/Kit/Ball Gag”….um, use your imagination

For the third time in the past ten minutes, Adicia wiped her eyes. She woke up early to finish a letter to Drusilla. It was not that she was tired; her Slayer skills kept her from tiring as quickly as a normal woman her age. The problem, for Adicia, was the buzzing in her brain.

The buzzing began after her parents died. When her Slayer powers kicked in, the buzzing only got worse. After Drusilla took her in, somehow the vampire found a way to stop it. Under her guidance two lost souls made a life for themselves. While not Druilla’s child and certainly not a vampire, she thought of Dru like a mother. later, they took in another girl a few years younger who had been gang raped and left for dead by football hoodlums. The girl’s injuries were extensive, but with a nurse Drusilla brought under her thrall she had recovered. Their family now number three, they grew close. After it became clear Adicia was a Slayer, Drusilla was insistent, after a vision, that the girl went to the new Slayer Academy and assimilate herself into their group.

Adicia felt alone and uncomfortable around her fellow Slayers. Other than their shared powers, she felt there was little in common between them. Their quest to protect humanity did not matter to her. After seeing what humans had done to her sister, and hearing what the mobs in Prague had done to her mother, she could give a fuck either way. Vampires and humans shared an evil, demonic, state. She saw no problem with being cordial with vampires and the more she studied recent Slayers it seemed she was not alone.

Finally, after more fidgeting and a cup of tea, she started to write down what she had outlined. After nearly finishing a page, there was a knock at the door. Faith walked into the room, which caused Adicia to attempt straightening her uniform.

Faith put up a hand. “It’s okay, it’s wicked early in the morning.” Adicia immediately eased up. “I was out form y morning run and I saw your light on. I wanted to talk to you because you seemed so distracted during yesterday’s exercises.”

A look of horror came over Adicia’s face, but, again, Faith put up a hand. “I’m not mad at you or anything; I was more worried something was wrong. I read your file. I am so sorry about your parents. I want to make a good impression on my Slayers, especially after all that nonsense yesterday.”

Adicia bit her lip gently and started speaking in slow, measured, tones. “I have also read your file and you were right yesterday, you are the best Slayer. I am sorry if I seem distracted. I have a lot on my mind right now.”

Turning back towards her desk, Adicia picked up her tea and offered a cup to Faith who turned it down. “That past few days have been the first time I have really been around a lot of people in a long time. The woman who took me in, well, she kept me pretty sheltered while I was staying with her.”

This time it was Faith who was stopped from speaking by an upward hand. “But that is no excuse for me to be distracted during training. It will never happen again. I want to make a good impression on you as well. You are the Head Slayer. I am here for you, Faith.”

Faith thanked her again and moved towards the door. Before she could open it, Adicia called to her. “I have one question Faith. Why did you allow Kennedy to get away with her attitude yesterday?”

Faith smiled, remembering the pounding she gave Kennedy. “Well, I did kick her ass pretty good.”

Adicia stared at her. “I would have destroyed her. But you are our leader. Her disrespect is inexcusable.”

Faith went to say something back, but Adicia had already moved back to her papers. Quietly, she excused herself.

Willow Rosenberg was also having an early morning. After walking out on Kennedy last night she had encamped herself in the library. The floor of the study room she had used to sleep was rough, but it was like doing an all nighter in high school again. Finally, around 4am she took a walk around the stacks to clear her head. She had a lot to think about…the classes she would be teaching, the troubling story Lilac had told her, and how to deal with Kennedy. As her thoughts drifted, a voice brought her back to reality.

“Ma’am, I have your coffee.” When Willow sleepily stared back at Allison, she became concerned. “You did send a request for coffee?”

Willow shut her eyes for a moment to try and clear her head. Slouching her shoulders, she took the coffee. “Thank you Allison. It has been a difficult few days for me. Finish your shift and then get some sleep before class.”

Allison smiled and said goodbye to Willow. A quick check of the clock showed that Willow had a little bit of time before breakfast. There was plenty of time to visit Tara’s marker and see off Ashley and Lilac. Climbing down the stairs to the main library exit all Willow could think was her wish that Buffy was here now and not later.

As Lilac made the turn out of the Academy’s land and onto the road heading towards town she turned to Ashley, the amusement on her face hidden behind a large pair of sunglasses. “So, I gather you got my message yesterday?”

Ashley stared out the window for a moment before replying. “I didn’t know you could do telepathy?”

Lilac smiled, which made Ashley’s eyebrows raise. She was not used to Lilac not scowling. “I do, and with a little bit of practice you can too.” After another long moment, she changed the subject. “So when we get there I have a job for you to do. You’re going to have to stay in the car.” Ashley tried to interrupt, but Lilac continued. “If there is some sort of magical spell or anything else going on, I can shield you from it. If there really is something going on, I need you to be far away trying to decipher what it is. I can show you how to see the presence of magic.”

Ashley spoke up. “Y-yes, Willow has showed me how to ‘see’ magic.”

“Good.” Lilac parked their car. “I believe that Slayers should be as multi-disciplined as possible. One of the things that kept Buffy Summers alive for so long was having competent people around her who knew other arts. I mean, previous Watchers before Mr. Giles were certainly adept at their craft, but Buffy had multiple researchers, demons and souled vampires, and the most powerful Witch in the world. The next generation of Slayers should not need a group of people to do this. They should be able to do it themselves.”

Lilac returned her focus to driving. Ashley looked out the window. Both were quiet for the rest of their journey.

And that was the end of what I wrote back in 2003. I got a LOT of hate mail for breaking up, sort of, Willow and Kennedy. Also, Adicia being Palestinian got me some very angry mail too. The Academy Of Slayage Episode Three

I got a lot of hatemail for the ending of this episode. I was pretty burnt out on the BTVS fan community to begin with and the enraged messages I received really did not help.

The passage Willow, Kit, and Tara stood in was deafly quiet as the light around them subsided.  After a moment, Willow stepped forward and pulled Tara into her embrace, sobbing all over the Witch, letting the past three years of pain out.  Tara put her head on the redhead’s shoulder, closing her eyes for a moment.  Willow squeezed her harder which made Tara grimace for a moment, not being used to corporeal bodies anymore.  She looked up at Kit who was standing about fifteen feet behind the embracing couple in shock, with her jaw near the floor.  Tara winked at the girl, slowly pulling out of Willow’s embrace.

Before Willow could say anything, Tara put up a finger to silence her.  “I see you found the Matrica, I am glad.”  Tara paused for a moment, looking as if she was working something through in her head.  Looking back at Willow, she took her lover’s hands in her own and motioned for her and Kit to sit down on the rock behind her.

Willow sniffled a few times as she sat down, still in complete shock over the events of the past ten minutes.  Where were they?  Heaven?  Some place in between?  She ran a hand over Tara’s own for the first time in three years and felt completely at peace.  Looking down for a moment she whispered, “T-Tara, um, where—-”

Before she could continue, Tara cut her off. “I brought you here for something.” She paused, looking towards Kit.  “Both of you. There is much that has to be done, Willow.” She chuckled for a second or two and then turned serious again. “I hate to sound like a rerun Willow, but if you think you know what is to come; what you are… you have not even begun.” Willow stared at Tara with a confused look on her face, which made Tara smile mischievously. She giggled loudly, pausing to stare up at the ceiling. “Willow there is much yet to be done, I have seen where your thread can go. A Phoenix will rise and erase the lie. For now, that is all I can tell you.”

Tara paused for a moment to let the prophecy set in and then stared into Willow’s eyes, leaning in to kiss her mouth gently. She wrinkled her nose for a moment, as if to shrug something off.  “I have to go; if you need to contact me during your journey you can use The Matrica as a channel to the other side. I love you.”

With that, the orange light enveloped the two living witches again. After a moment, they were back in the library. Willow sat kneeling on the floor, staring at the tile. After a few seconds of disorientation, Kit blinked and adjusted to the new reality. “What the hell?” was all she could get out before crawling over to Willow and holding the crying Wiccan in her arms.

“Giles I have to tell you, I think something really fucked up is going on here.”

Giles grinned sadly at his friend Lilac. Leaning back in the chair across from her, he took a quiet breath to steady him before questioning what Lilac had just told him.  “You say that suddenly your friend decided to get back together with her fiancé after breaking up with him.  Further, that she is out of the blue cheerful and exuberant about the whole thing?”

Closing her eyes for a moment, Lilac looked up at Giles, jet-black hair falling out of her face as she moved.  “Exactly.  The whole thing seems suspicious to me Giles.  Here was a woman who I thought was as much of a feminist as I am who worked at a clinic and considered herself blessed.  Suddenly she decides to marry this male who treats her as if it is 1950 and stops working at the clinic because he disapproves.  I am telling you, the Macy I know would have told him to piss off.”  She leaned back and sighed heavily.  “I wanted to talk to you about this because I trust you.  I trust everyone else, well not all of them, but if I go to the inner circle with this, I feel as if they will not take me seriously enough.  By the time they do, it could be way too late.  As much as I care about Willow, there is part of me that does not think she would take this seriously enough.  This all seems way too fishy to me.”

Giles nodded.  “I understand.  I still think you should go to Willow though, if anything just so they know.  You could look into it on your own.”

Lilac closed her eyes for a moment, pausing in thought.  Slowly she opened them again.  “Thank you, Giles.”  With that, He smiled at her again and left the Witch to her own demons for the evening.

The next morning freshly rested and caffeinated, the Inner Circle gathered for an early morning meeting.  Giles, Willow, Faith, Lilac, Ashley, and Kit met in a backroom of the library to discuss what Willow had brought them together for, namely her and Kit’s experience the night before with Tara.  Willow presented The Matrica, making sure that Ashley and Kit were able to take pictures and document the discussion for later examination.  Ashley’s job was to record the minutes of their discussion, while Kit took digital pictures of the artifact.  Willow relayed the story of their experience, leaving out the more intimate moments.

“The weirdest part was, she laughed and smiled at me as if we had been together the day before.  A-a-and the Druid robes, I don’t get it.”

Faith looked away for a moment, remembering an experience from a few years before.  “Could it have been The First?”

“No!  We touched, she held my hand and I hugged her and…no, it was Tara.  I would have sensed—”

Before Willow could finish Giles interjected.  “But Angel’s experience with The First tells us it can be corpor—”

Willow narrowed her eyebrows furiously.  “No.”  She paused for a moment, letting the intensity of her conviction settle in.  “Giles, it was Tara.”

Giles sighed and smiled at her.  “Alright, I trust your judgment Willow.”  Giles paused for a moment to clean his glasses.  Looking around the room, he saw no disagreeable faces staring at him.  Faith gave a nod of approval.  Lilac nodded quickly, going back to playing with one of the buttons on her shirt.  Seeing it was unanimous Giles turned back to Willow and grinned.  “Is there anything else Willow?”

Willow smiled briefly and continued.  “Yes, Tara said something about a prophecy.  It was intended for me I think; she seemed intent on that.  She said, ‘a Phoenix will rise and erase the lie.’  I think we should get Kit and Ashley on this one.”

After a moment of thought, Giles nodded.  “Y-yes I have never heard anything like that.”

As Giles and Willow went back and forth discussing this for a few minutes, Kit and Ashley continued to take notes on the meeting and pictures of The Matrica.  Suddenly, Ashley’s head popped up and she looked towards Lilac, nodding quickly to the Witch.  Moments after their interaction Willow and the group turned towards Ashley.  “Ashley, I want you on this one today, check through the computers and our archives for any mention of the prophecy.”

Ashley nodded. Touching Kit’s shoulder to get her attention, she started to move out of the room and into the library.  After setting up the computer to upload the Matrica pictures, Kit followed Ashley into the library.

A few moments passed before Willow looked up again.  “Anything else?”

After a moment, Faith was the first to speak up, “Ok, I will say what everyone is thinking.  I think we need to take The Matrica seriously.  Like, we can’t just use it all randomly to go see whatever dead friends we want to.”  The Slayer paused for a second to look around the room, making eye contact with each person.  “I know each of you has thought of someone; Jenny Calendar, Kendra, B’s mom, my old Watcher…I don’t think it would be right to abuse what we have been given.  The prophecy Tara gave Willow is probably really important, but also is a gift, something which we shouldn’t use to our advantage.”

There was silence for a minute in the room as everyone let what Faith had said sink in, defeating any dreams they had of seeing loved ones.  Finally, Willow spoke up.  “Well said Faith, well said.”  Faith smiled widely at her and everyone around her, proud that she had said the right thing.

Giles motioned for the meeting to end, but as everyone started to get up, he put his hand up, waiting for silence.  “One more thing, I think that w-we should not discuss this quite yet with the others.  Until we know more about the true intentions of the prophecy and The Matrica, this should stay amongst us.”  The group nodded to each other and quietly moved out of the room and forward with their days.

On the way out of the library proper Lilac caught up to Willow and called to her, pulling her aside.  Sitting down at a research table, the dark haired Witch conveyed the story of her friend Macy’s transformation to Willow, giving details and examples as she went.

When she finished, Willow paused in thought for a moment before speaking her opinion.  “Lilac, maybe she just changed her mind?  Sometimes people have sudden epiphanies and make an about face, it happens.  You may not agree with her decision, but part of being a femin-”

Lilac furrowed her brow, biting her lip to avoid snapping at her friend.  “Willow, I just don’t trust this.  Her sudden conversion is way too convenient for her boyfriend and his creepy values.”

Willow stared at her for a moment before replying.  “Do you think there could be foul play involved?  Someone is trying to turn England into Stepford?”

After snorting in disgust, Lilac sighed.  “I wouldn’t put anything past men.  Humanity is ill and disgusting sometimes.”  She paused for a moment and put a hand over Willow’s.

Willow smiled uncomfortably and squeezed Lilac’s hand.  She took a sip of water before giving Lilac the okay to investigate.  “Check into it tomorrow.  Go see her, but be careful, okay?”

Lilac smiled for the first time in a long time.  “Thank you ‘Madam’.”  Laughing, both women got up and left the library.

At lunchtime, Willow and Kennedy met up near a tree in the shadows of Willow’s castle to eat.  They spoke for a few minutes about The Academy, how Slayer training was going.  Soon though, the topic turned to the emergency meeting that had roused Willow out of sleep after coming to bed late as it was.

“So…where were you this morning?  You were out late; I thought you might sleep in.”  Kennedy said as she stared at Willow’s pale neck.

Willow grinned, closing her eyes for a moment as the wind blew her hair into her face.   “We had to have an emergency meeting about something, higher ups only.”

Kennedy’s curiosity was peaked.  “Oh, secret meeting.  An apocalypse coming soon?” “…again,” Kennedy added under her breath.

“N-no, no apocalypse this week at least it seems.  We had to discuss some recent events, nothing you should worry about.”

This made Kennedy frown.  “Oh sure, top secret stuff…,” she said, trailing off at the end.

Willow nibbled at the apple she had brought with her, taking little bites.  “Yes, secret stuff I cannot talk about right now, Giles’ order.”

Kennedy noticeably tensed and squinted.  “Why?  What can be that important that it needs to be kept secret?”

“We’ve been over this before Kennedy,” Willow replied with a sigh.  “Sometimes there will be things I cannot discuss with you because it is for administrators only.  Nothing against you, things just have to be this way.”

Before she could catch herself Kennedy blurted out, “are you hiding something from me?”  Realizing there was no going back, she continued, brow narrowed.  “Why are you pulling rank on me again?  Willow tried to get a word in edgewise, but Kennedy got up and started to stomp off, turning once to hiss at her, “See you later, ‘Madam’” sarcastically.

“So, what was that big meeting about this morning?”  Dawn Summers asked as she and her lover walked through the business section of the town the Academy was adjacent.

Kit turned to her lover and smiled, staring at Dawn for a moment, taking in her beauty.  “I can’t really say anything.  Giles told us to keep quiet for now, top secret stuff.”

Dawn shoved her lover gently, smiling.  “Oh sure, ‘top secret’.  Take you out of bed at six am, making me have to play with you in the shower.”  The new Watcher pouted in jest and whispered to her lover, “You know I hate when we have to play in the shower.”  She stroked Kit’s arm as they walked into a restaurant, hoping to get some food before they make their way back to The Academy.  Kit purred silently, not wanting to bring attention to the lovers before they had fully gauged the town’s tolerance of homosexuals.  She would have to make up for displeasing Dawn.

The Witch and Watcher found a table in the corner where they could have a little bit of privacy.  The post lunch crowd was small and quiet, but Dawn insisted on privacy.   Ordering two coffees and agreeing to split today’s special, they settled in.  As they sat, they played footsie under the table while waiting for their food.

A few tables over, a teenage girl watched them mindfully.   She was happy Mummies’ training had assisted her in tracking the Witch and Watcher to this establishment.  The girl wanted to go over and immerse herself in them, but Mummy had said to just track and observe for now.  Later on, there might be time for playing.  Sighing contently, she pulled out her sketchbook and began to draw the beautiful Watcher with the shiny hair across the room.

In the early afternoon Faith led the daily Slayer training session.  They had the morning off but beginning the next morning they would begin having training sessions twice a day.  Faith had her Slayers stretching under the supervision of Vi and Caridad.  All of them were obediently following the lead of the Alpha team Slayers.  All of them except for the new girl Adicia who was a bit behind in her stretches, seeming to be off in her own little world.  Faith made a mental note to speak to her later.

One other Slayer was not following Vi.  Kennedy, who was doing her own stretching exercises.  Normally, working on her own would be fine with Faith, but the head Slayer had specifically ordered all Slayers to follow the Alpha Team’s lead.  Faith turned to speak to another Slayer as she walked up and down the rows Kennedy would look up, a scowl on her face.

After speaking to Mary Ellen and Persephone for a moment Faith whistled loudly, bringing her Slayers to attention.  The dark haired Slayer made her way to the front of the lines, slowly nodding her head as she took in how quickly they fell into line.

“Alright ya’ll, I am glad you already understand discipline.  I’m not really big on a lot of the gung ho stuff B is into, but I do expect you to follow orders and obey me.”  She paused for a moment, the English wind blowing her hair in her face.  “I will do my best to earn your trust, I want ya’ll to be the best Slayers possible.  I am the best there is right now, and I do not feel arrogant saying that.  But I don’t want to be, I want you,” Faith paused to point at a young Slayer in front of her, “and you,” she pointed towards Vi, “and you.”  The last girl she pointed at was Adicia, who stared back at her, burrowing a hole through her eyes.  Faith would have to speak to her definitely.  Finally, Faith stepped in front of Kennedy.  Grinning, she pointed down at her.  “Even you brat.”  As Faith walked back to the front Kennedy muttered, “bullshit,” just loud enough for Faith to hear.

With her back still turned Faith smiled and sighed softly.  Time to get the brat back in line.  With a wave of the hand, Faith motioned for all of her Slayers to come towards her and form a circle.  “Alright, today we are going to work on sparring.”  She turned for a moment towards Kennedy, pointed at her.  “Kennedy, over here, let’s show them what the experts can do.”

Kennedy’s facial expression visibly changed.  Suddenly, the bored pout was gone; she was all game now.  Her game face on, she began to circle around Faith stalking at her.  Amusement spread through Faith’s mind at Kennedy’s sudden interest, but she kept a stoic face.  Around and around they went, trying to pick a spot to attack, trying to find a way to win.  Both got in quick punches, trying to knock the other off their guard.  After a minute or two of scrapping, the Slayers grappled, Faith landing an uppercut right on Kennedy’s jaw.  Kennedy fell backwards into a group of Slayers, including Lauren, who shoved Kennedy back towards Faith.  The brown haired Slayer threw a punch across her body towards Kennedy, but Kennedy ducked before she could land it, rolling away from Faith, and somersaulting to her feet.  Before Faith could completely turn around, Kennedy’s boot connected with her chin, knocking her to her knees.  Ignoring the pain in her face, Faith shot forward and upward delivering an uppercut to Kennedy’s face.

At this point, in the “sparring,” a few Slayers started to mutter to each other that something was wrong but a few looks and quiet words from Vi silenced them.  The Slayers watched as Kennedy recovered from the uppercut to throw a roundhouse punch, which Faith dodged easily.  As Kennedy turned back, Faith grabbed her by the back of her head and planted her body into the ground.  After standing over her for a moment, Faith leaned down and whispered something in Kennedy’s ear.  Turning back towards the assembled Slayers, she ended the session.

“Dearest morsel dinner is ready.  Now freshen up.”  Drusilla watched her girl run into the bathroom to wash her hands and face.  She smiled as the girl shut the door, proud of her little princess.  Ever since she had found her, the girl had never made her cross or displeased her.  Her other precious child Adicia had come into her life shortly after.  Both of them were equally special to her, but she felt an especially strong bond to Adicia.  Adicia was her eyes and ears near the Witch.  Adicia would figure out why the pigeons kept telling Drusilla about the phoenix.

Willow could not remember ever being this angry with Kennedy before in the time they had been together.

“It is only the third day the Academy has been open and already you are disrespecting Faith and attempting to usurp her authority.  This is unacceptable Kennedy.”

Kennedy scoffed at her lover.  “Oh please, I gave Faith a good fight.  She needs to know there are others here who can stand up to her.”  The Slayer threw her hands up in disgust.  “I can’t believe you are siding with her.”

Kennedy moved to storm to the other side of the room but Willow caught her by the arm with a surprising amount of strength.  “I am not siding with her; I am siding with my duty as Head Mistress of this academy.  Those Slayers were placed in Faith’s jurisdiction by…”  Willow stopped for a moment and stared directly into the eyes of her girlfriend.  “…Me…”  She paused again to let that sink in walking across the room to sit down on the bed.  After a few long moments she continued.  “Giles didn’t make that choice, Buffy didn’t, Lilac didn’t; I did.  Faith is the best there is, hell she might be better than Buffy on her best day.”

Willow went to say something more but Kennedy cut her off.  “This is unbelievable!  No matter what I am never first with you.  Whether it is a dead girl or Fai-”

Before Kennedy could finish speaking, she found herself pinned against the wall, an angry Witch holding her there.  Willow looked down for a moment, as though lost in thought.  She suddenly looked up and spoke in measured and quiet tones.  “Didn’t we have this discussion already?  Didn’t I tell you not to speak of her?”

Kennedy broke the grip Willow had on her and shoved her away.  “Oh please, fuck you Willow.  First I can’t compete with a dead girl, now I can’t compete with Faith.”

Willow stuttered out an angry laugh, shaking her head.  “No Kennedy, at the end of the day, you can’t compete with her.  Never will be able to, just why are you jealous?”

Kennedy ignored the question and pointed a finger at Willow.  “What about you and Faith?”

Willow stared at the girl.  “What do you mean?”

The Slayer moved towards the red haired Witch, accusation ridden on her face.  “I saw you with her, she held you for hours.  What’s the deal Willow, one Slayer not enough?”

After a moment the only sound in the room was Willow laughing.  After tiring of that, she walked over to the bed and sat down, staring at the heel of her boots.  When did I start wearing heels?  She thought to herself, remembering her softer side of Sears years.  Sighing, she answered her lover’s question.  “Kennedy, Faith was holding me because, unlike you, she understands what I have been through.  She gets it in ways you never will or could.”  Willow stared down the Slayer in front of her for a moment and then looked away.  She finally whispered, “Are you going to be jealous every time I make a friend, every time I am close to someone?”

Kennedy cut her off, stammering out.  “I lost my Watch-”

This time Willow cut her off.  “I lost my soul mate.  Look, Kennedy, is this going to be a reoccurring theme?  Every time something happens that you don’t like, are you going to disrespect me and this academy?”

Willow got up and started towards the doors.  As she opened the door to leave she looked over her shoulder.

“If so, then maybe you shouldn’t be here.”

Academy Of Slayage Episode Two: Sing Me To Sleep

She was glad to be back with him.  As of late, Macy Welsh had been having second thoughts about her relationship with Jeffrey Larger.  He had been pressuring her to quit working at their town’s health clinic but she had not budged.  Macy felt her work was important, to get proper health care and contraceptives to teens and adults.  Jeffrey, more conservative as of late, had started to disapprove of her behavior.  Things had gotten so bad they almost broken up, finally everything coming to a head with her moving out two weeks ago.

Jeffrey had gotten in touch four nights ago, proposing a weekend away in the country to clear the air in their relationship and try to reconcile.  As the weekend had gone on, they had fought a few times; all hope seemed lost.  Suddenly, on Sunday evening, Macy had started to see his side of things.  If they wanted things to work she might have to bend a little more, he was right.  Now, the next evening, sitting in a restaurant eating dinner quietly, Macy stared at him with glazed over glee in her eyes.  Why had she ever considered not staying with him?

They sat and talked over dinner, talking of the future for the first time in a long time.  Suddenly, Jeffrey got up and pulled out his chair, getting down on one knee.  He pulled a box out of his jacket pocket, a beautiful diamond ring inside.

“Macy Welsh, will you marry me?”

Tears started going down Macy’s cheeks as she broke down and cried.  She fell into his arms, whispering “yes” quietly into his ear.  Jeffrey held her tight and ran his hand across her back.  Everything had gone according to plan.

Willow Rosenberg sat in a chair looking out at her view.  Her mood had improved from the previous few days with the opening of the Academy.  Quietly she wrote in her journal, continuing from where her lover Kennedy had cut her off the day before and then further on:

Today marks the first day of classes at The Academy.  All classes will be meeting today to do a short orientation and go over what they will be learning in the next few months.  In September, we are hoping to have a few teachers here to teach basic courses to the girls.  Literature, History, Mathematics, things of that nature… uh, school stuff.  Giles is also putting together a history of the Slayer course in his spare time.

Before she could go on, there was a knock at her door.  Ashley would be coming to get her for breakfast.  Willow was excited to see the girl, for she would be the first young woman Willow would see in their new uniforms.  She also found it wonderful to have someone whom Willow could count on; her lover Kennedy’s schedule was chaotic.  She missed Kennedy’s touch, her arms wrapped around the Wiccan’s body every night.  Willow did not want to wake up alone anymore, but she put on a brave face and put the thought in the back of her head.  Tossing aside her journal to finish later on when she had a moment, Willow went to the door to greet her young assistant.  When the door opened, she could not believe the sight in front of her eyes.

“Ashley, wow, the uniforms look great,” was all Willow could get out.  Ashley did a twirl to show off the outfit.  Each Slayer, Witch, and Watcher had a uniform, which was mandatory to wear during the week.  The matching parts consisted of dark black pants, black boots, and black zip up sweatshirts.  The shirts they wore told you immediately what they were studying.  Each student wore a shirt under their sweatshirt of a different color, which resembled soccer jerseys.  Witches wore red, Slayers yellow and Watchers blue.  Each also wore a patch on their sweatshirt to show what “team” they belonged.

Willow invited Ashley to come inside for a minute while she got her notes together for her first day of teaching.  She noticed that Ashley kept glancing at her but looked away quickly whenever Willow looked up.  Willow smiled and nodded towards the door, sliding her bag over one shoulder.  They made their way down into the courtyard and outside.  Ashley started to walk away as she did every morning, but Willow grabbed her arm gently, bringing the girl in her direction and towards the memorial.  She leaned over and whispered in the girl’s ear, “you can join me if you want to; I don’t want you to feel as if I am superior to you in any way, okay?”  Willow smiled and put her hand on Ashley’s shoulder, brushing away a few strands of her dark brown hair.

They came out from the underground tunnel in front of the right side of the castle.  About fifty feet ahead of them two Slayers stood in a watchtower overlooking the grounds.  Willow led Ashley towards the watchtower, smiling at the first Slayer to turn around towards them as they approached.  “Good morning,” she said loudly to them when they got close enough.  There were two towers watching over the Academy grounds.  Both were equipped around the clock with two Slayers.  The girls rotated who did shifts based on a drawing of straws at the beginning of the week.  This was a futile exercise really, as there was enough Magic surrounding the grounds to keep out anything bad, but Willow never told any of the girls.

One of the girls came down from the tower to greet Willow and Ashley.  The girls name was Mary Ellen, a Slayer from Kentucky in the states.  She approached them, stopped about ten feet from them, and quietly said, “Good morning Madam.”  Willow gave Mary Ellen a nod to give her report.  “Madam, Ms. Summers, Ms. Holburn, and Ms. Adams will be arriving in about five minutes.”  The Slayer paused, pulling a small telescope out of the bag on her shoulder.  “If you look through this telescope you can see them.”

Willow grinned at the girl and took the telescope into her hands, looking through the glass.  About two miles down the road she could see a car approaching.  She closed her eyes gently and used her own Magic to see the inside of the car.  In the car was Persephone, a new Slayer recruited during The Alpha Team’s last trip through Europe.  In the back seat sat Dawn Summers, who looked as if she had aged about five years in the past 11 months since Willow had last seen her.  Next to Dawn was Kit, her friend from Sunnydale.  Willow did not know her too well, only having met her at the Summer’s home a few times.

What Willow saw next made her break her concentration.  A few minutes had elapsed and the car was actually coming up the hill towards the tower now.  Ashley came over to where Willow stood, grabbing her arm gently to steady her.  “Are you okay?” she said quietly.  She put up a hand to say she was fine.

When all three of the people standing in front of Willow gave her a perplexed look, she grinned at them.  “Things just got a lot more interesting here.”

Willow could not believe what she had seen.  Little Dawn Summers had a girlfriend.  This revelation came out of nowhere.  There was a not a single mention in any letter or email she had written to Willow.  They sat on the grass under a tree on the left side of the castle catching up.  Willow sent Persephone and Kit ahead to let everyone know Dawn and those who had accompanied her had arrived and that Dawn and Willow would be inside for breakfast shortly.

“Are you gay?”

Dawn smiled at her friend and shrugged.  “I don’t know…maybe?  I like guys still, I think, but it’s just…”

“…you like Kit better…”  Willow finished for her.

Dawn brightened for a moment.  “Yeah that is totally how things were for me.  I never intended to like girls.  I mean, when you and Tara lived with us I was always curious, but I guess everyone goes through a curious phase right?”  She stopped for a second to look towards the castle.  “I don’t know what I am Willow, I just know I love Kit.”

Willow took Dawn’s left hand into her own and squeezed gently, smiling reassuringly.  “Things were the same for Tara and me.  Before I knew what was happening, I was not in love with Oz anymore and I was madly in love with another, and that person was a women.  When it hit me finally, at first it was disorienting but then I realized it did not matter what gender the person I loved was.  A lot of people could learn from us.”

Suddenly the wind blew a bit harder than usual, giving Dawn a moment to consider her next question.  “Do you ever hear from Oz?”

Willow looked down for a moment and let out a small chuckle.  She then stared off at their beautiful surroundings for about ten seconds.  Dawn looked at her closely, thinking about how much older Willow looked.  “I heard from Oz right after Sunnydale went poof.  A few weeks later, he came one night when we were staying near Disneyland.  We went out to the woods and talked, cleared the aired on some things.  He was mostly just worried about what happened.”

Before she could stop herself, Dawn blurted out her next question.  “Have you talked to my sister?”

Willow stood and pulled Dawn up with her.  They needed to start getting back to the dining hall so proper introductions could be made.  They had walked about a half mile before Willow spoke again.  “Buffy and I spoke about three months ago.  She has a home in Italy we purchased for her with Council funds.  She has been staying there on and off in between trips abroad.  Last we spoke she was going around Europe researching where Slayers lived before Columbus sailed to the Americas.”  They got to the bridge in front of the castle and crossed quietly.  After greeting the Slayer on guard at the door, they walked inside, crossing the halls until they came before the large wooden double doors.  They paused before going in.  Willow turned to Buffy’s sister, “and hey, if you or Kit ever needs to talk, you know I am here.”

Dawn reached over, hugged her gently, and then pulled away.  Willow opened the doors to the dining hall and they entered.

The room went quiet when the huge double doors opened.  Ashley was sitting in her new chair at the big table next to Giles, who had been telling her about various research techniques Willow had used over the years.  She was nervous, not used to Willow not being here with her amongst the elite.  As Giles spoke her gaze passed by him and towards Faith, whispering in the ear of the girl next to her whose name Ashley had learned last night was Vi.  She then moved her eyes towards where Willow usually sat and in the middle of them was the Kennedy.

Before she could continue this thought, the double doors in front of the hall opened wide.  Ashley smiled as Willow, an attractive brown-haired girl, and two girls with darker, black hair came walking through the doors.  The room became quiet immediately as their Head Mistress put up a hand to signify she wanted to speak.

Willow smiled at how quickly the crowd had quieted down.  She paused for a moment and heard a small grumble come out of her stomach; this speech would have to be quick.  “Thank you everyone.  Today is a special day here at The Academy.  Not only is the first day of classes for the first class ever to walk these grounds today, but this day has been made even more special.”  She turned slightly and pointed towards Dawn.  “I would like to introduce Dawn Summers,” she paused for the usual ohs and ahs at the mention of the Summer’s name.  “… and Kit Holbern.  Since the introductions are now over, I need to eat.”

A chuckle went up from some people in the room as Willow and the others moved their way through the crowd towards their chairs.  Willow sat down next to her lover and kissed her quickly, wanting to get right down to eating.

Once breakfast was over and Willow had dismissed everyone, she approached Kit and pulled her to the side.  Willow informed her Lilac would like to speak privately in her office.  Kit said goodbye to Dawn, not even bothering to hide their affections for each other.  Almost every member of the core group had approached her or Dawn and let them know how happy they were for them, which made Kit happy.

She made her way up into one of the spiraling staircases in the four towers, which hugged each corner of the castle.  Each tower held at the top an office for each of the four department heads, Giles, Willow, Lilac, and Faith.  Following the directions she had received from Willow, Kit soon found herself at the door of Lilac’s office.  Standing in place nervously for a minute, she sighed quietly and knocked on the door.

A feminine voice welcomed Kit from inside the room as she opened the door.  The neatly kept office had one side devoted to Wicca items, the other devoted to some sort of shrine.  A large bookshelf sat behind the desk Lilac sat at, the Witch quietly reading something on the laptop in front of her.  Kit stood nervously in the room for a minute before Lilac looked up.  “Sit down Kit, please; I will be with you in a moment.”  Quietly Kit complied, sitting down in one of the two chairs in front of her.  She looked around the room while she waited for Lilac, recognizing some of the texts on the bookshelf, a few Magic books she herself owned, and a tattered copy of Homer’s Odyssey.

Finally after a few minutes had passed Lilac looked up again and handed Kit a small booklet.  Her gaze was already returning to the screen before she spoke.  “In your hands is a small etiquette book I have developed for the Magic program, some people may find the book pretentious or overly bitchy, but I find it’s best to lay down rules and expectations.  When you get a chance, look at the book.  Right now there is only one other young women,” she paused for a moment and looked Kit right in the eye, “…and you will call yourself and those around you ‘young women.’  You are over eighteen; I do not want to hear any ‘girl’ bullshit.  You fucking Americans, no matter what happens, you always treat women as though they are fucking toys.  Understand?”

Kit nodded quickly, totally overwhelmed by how cool this women was.  “Of course, thinking about it now, everyone does call all the…young women around here girls.”

Lilac made a facial expression somewhat similar to a smile, but not quite.  “Good.  Now get out of here, I will see you for orientation in about thirty minutes.”  Kit got up to leave but Lilac called to her again and she turned around.

Kit smiled at her teacher and nodded, shaking her hand again.  She headed out the door.  Lilac turned back to her screen, troubled further by what she read.

Kit found what Lilac said to be true; there really were only two young women in the Magic class.  As she walked into the room, she saw Willow pulling a book out of her bag and looking away, lost in thought.  In the middle of the room Kit noticed a large circular table where Lilac and a young women with brown hair sat.  Lilac was writing in a notebook, eyes narrowed as she furiously wrote.  The other young woman got up out of her chair and extended a hand out to Kit in greeting.  “Hello, my name is Allison.”  Kit smiled back and took her hand firmly.  She paused for a moment, taking her in.  Allison had long brown hair going down below her shoulders.  The witch was about her height but a little chubbier, and wore dark black glasses.  Before she could continue the conversation, Lilac got up and moved towards the front of the table.  Both young women got quiet immediately and listened to what she would say, as did Willow, who sat down on a chair and listened.

After the meeting ended, Willow asked Kit to join here in the library for a tour.  As part of her Wicca education, occasionally Kit would be doing research for Willow.  Willow and Kit made their way up to the library.  The room they needed to go to was in the back in the far corner.  The library was about the size of a high school library with a decent amount of stacks and room for more if needed.  At the entrance stood two Slayers who stoically nodded to Willow and Kit as they passed into the library.

“These are the stacks, and over there is where our microfilm is stored.  I will show you how to use the machine later.”  Willow said as they walked around a bit.  They passed by a row of computers and headed into the actual stacks; Willow admiring the books Giles had brought in earlier.  Kit followed her quietly, overwhelmed by all of the books surrounding her.  As she leaned her arm towards her neck to scratch an itch on her head her elbow bumped the stack next to her, knocking a jewel off.  Quickly Willow turned as she heard Kit mutter a curse and knell to dive at the jewel.  Kit got her small hands underneath the jewel and caught it.  Rising up, the orange jewel shone brightly through the room for a few moments before going dark.  After staring at what was in her small hands for a few moments, Kit quietly handed the jewel to Willow.

Willow examined the jewel for a few minutes before looking up at Kit.  “Where did this come from?”

The young Wiccan shrugged at the redhead.  “I-I’m not sure Willow, I was scratching my neck and suddenly the jewel bumped off the shelf.  I did not see anything there before I swear!  Willow I-”

Willow cut her off.  “No, I believe you.”  She examined the jewel closely.  “We should take the jewel to…”  Willow paused for a moment.  “…I guess we are already in the library?”

Ashley enjoyed driving in new Slayers when asked to, but the one in her care right now was troubling her.  She had picked up Adicia, a seventeen years old girl, a few hours ago down in London.  Adicia was a recently discovered Slayer, activated about eight months ago.  Ashley kept trying to make conversation with the girl, but the girl would just answer in one-word answers or a nod.  She seemed preoccupied, staring out the window of the car deep in thought.  Ashley was okay with the silence; she was used to Willow often having bouts of quietness, even shutting themselves away for a day or two.  Something about Adicia troubled her though.  She decided to try to make small talk one more time.  “So Adicia, I read your file, I am sorry about your parents.”

Through the mirror, Ashley could see Adicia close her eyes slowly and sigh.  “Yes, they were killed last year.  A few weeks later were when I was ‘activated,’ as you say.  Soon after I found myself shuttled away to relatives in Germany, but my powers and the changes I went through made me an outcast so I ran away to England.  I got board with a women and her daughter doing odd jobs to make rent.  Then your academy got in touch, and here I am.”  Once she finished speaking, her eyes darted right back out the window and she did not speak again the rest of the ride.  After Faith met Adicia and Ashley, she led them to the main lawn for the first Slayer orientation.

Faith made her way across the grounds towards her castle.  She was still adjusting to the fact that she had her own small castle to herself.  Sure, she had a few little Slayers as a sort of staff, but otherwise the castle was all hers.  Faith chuckled to herself at how amazing it was how one can go from cold-blooded killer and renegade Slayer to “Head Mistress of Slayage.”  She smiled as she walked and made her way closer to home.  Finally, Faith had her life together for the most part and was moving forward instead of backwards.

The funniest thing of course was Kennedy even considering Faith would not sense her watching her the past two nights.  Hilarious, really.

“Mummy!  Adicia was on the telephone!  She said she arrived nicely and all is good.”  The girl ran across the room to give her mother a big hug.  Mummy squeezed her tight, holding her for a minute before letting go and whispering for her to start dinner.  Today was a great day; Adicia had infiltrated the academy and would report her findings back to Mummy.  Drusilla was curious about their arrival in England, curious about the Witch and the brown haired Slayer.  The visions had told her much lately, she needed to know more.

“Alright Giles, thank you.”

Willow hung up the phone quietly and walked back across the room to where Kit stood waiting for her.  The young Wiccan looked up at Willow, eager to find out what they had found.  Before Kit could speak, Willow put up a hand.  “Giles said the gem is the Matrica.  Slayers used the gem during the reign of the Romans.  What the gem does, no one knows, all of the Watchers journals from the time were lost during the fall of the Roman Empire.”

Before Willow or Kit could say anything further, an orange light enveloped both women and swept them away.  After a moment of disorientation, both Kit and Willow were walking down a long corridor.  Around them on both sides, they could see visions of past Slayers, both in victory and in death.  Willow paused at the site of Amanda and Kendra’s deaths; Kit at the final vision to be shown, Buffy Summers darting past her lover into the vortex to defeat Glory.

After things calmed down, Kit pointed ahead to where a figure stood in the shadows.  Almost feeling drawn towards the shadowy figure ahead of them, Willow and Kit started walking in its direction.  Soon enough they came to be right in front of said figure.  Taking a step forward towards them, the figure revealed itself as a human.  After a long moment, it pulled the hood covering the head down, revealing her identity to the two Wiccans.  Willow gasped at the sight and took a step back, falling into Kit.  Steadying herself, she looked the robed figure in the eyes.

Academy Of Slayage Episode One: In The Beginning

In the summer of 2003, I began writing a series of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fanfics. I only wrote three “episodes” before a number of factors postponed work on them and then put it permanently on the shelf. I am going to post all three episodes, the unreleased forth, and then my notes from the rest. Enjoy!

Academy of Slayage
Series 1 Episode 1
In the Beginning

She needed to get away.

They had been following her for about an hour now. The chase had been methodical, almost as if they did not want to catch her right away. She had stumbled upon what was really happening to the girls who had denied their suitors or had decided to leave the town. The girl would disappear for a weekend, come back, and want to be married and have babies immediately. Every time one of them came back, the results seemed like coincidence until it had happened to her. She discovered the truth, the horrible truth, but they had discovered her as well. Now she had to escape and tell someone. Anyone.

She ran through the field trying to figure out if there were any caves where she could hide. Alas, she seemed to be stuck with nowhere to go. Then her luck ran out. A dead end. She stood in front of the wall, slowly turning around to see her followers make their way up to her. A man came forward who she recognized as a Bishop from America. The man came towards her, rubbing his graying beard with his right hand. “You thought you could evade us little girl, did you?” Out of his vest, he pulled a red gem. “This will only hurt for a moment dear, since you have already been indoctrinated.” With a few words shouted in Latin, the girl’s world suddenly turned blank as she, dopey eyed, walked towards the man standing at attention in front of him. Smiling, he walked around her, as if to inspect her. “You won’t be causing anymore trouble young lady; you’ll be a good girl from now on.” With her resistance no longer an issue, she was lead to their waiting van and back to the church.

Willow Rosenberg frowned as she stared out at the beautiful view her private quarters gave of the countryside.  The view was beautiful, but Willow was not feeling beautiful right now.  She was tired, sad, and just wanted to relax.  Sitting down to begin to write in her journal, Willow tried to sum up the past years events for future generations to read:

Tomorrow, after nearly a years worth of planning and work, the academy will open on the grounds of the castle in front of my own smaller castle.  For the first year, after Sunnydale imploded and The First was defeated, nearly everyone who had survived made his or her way to Cleveland to fight the Hellmouth there.  Cleveland, contrary to popular rumor does not quite rock hard.  Eventually one night Giles came and ran an idea by me which sounded too good to pass up.  We would go back to England and collect any of the Council’s remaining assets.  With the death of Wesley, Giles and Dobson were the only surviving members left, thus; they were the heirs of the remaining funds.  Turned out the council had quite a nest egg hidden in a few easily hacked into Swiss accounts.  We purchased the castles and surrounding six thousand acres right then.  A few days after, another check came in which we are supposed to pretend we do not know was from Angel.  Angel’s donation was enough to start collecting books to rebuild the Watcher’s archives.  Luckily, Giles also had a back up collection in his flat here in England.  We then went our separate ways again, Giles and I going back to Cleveland to discuss our decision with everyone.

After telling everyone our plan, the vote was unanimous, we would move most of those in Cleveland to England, leaving behind a small group to deal with the Hellmouth there.  Principal Wood, Rona, Xander, Andrew, and a group of Slayers would remain.  The rest of us split up, some going home to see family, others coming to England with Giles and I to start planning.  Every so often one of us would relieve someone in Cleveland to allow them to get away for a while also.

What we now call the Alpha Team of Slayers joined Faith on a trip around the world, fighting any evil they came across.  They will be here tomorrow morning.  I am excited to see them, especially Faith.  As time has gone on, we have grown closer and really patched up things.

One night I came in from a date with Kennedy to find a note on my bed from Buffy.  The note simply said she needed to go away for a while to grow up, and just be a normal young woman.  I understood her plight; she had been through too much in the past eight years with us.  Dawn left to go stay with some friends in Seattle a few weeks later.  She said she needed to clear her head and get away from everything for a while.

We have a few new friends also.  A young witch named Lilac, who I met through the Coven, has joined us to help me teach Magic.  The first time I was in England after I went all grr bad she was of great help to my recovery.  She also served as a great pillow for me to cry all over.  I am glad she is here with us.

Before Willow could finish, two hands came up and wrapped themselves tightly around her body.  Kennedy had just come out of the shower and now had her naked body wrapped tightly around Willow.  She put her face against the side of Willow’s and whispered to her, “I just got out of the shower, and I kind of can’t find my clothes.”  They snuggled tightly for a moment before Kennedy mockingly pouted, “Can I snuggle with you?”

Willow forced a smile, not really wanting to be touched right now but going along for the ride for Kennedy’s sake.  They embraced for a few minutes quietly, Kennedy stroking Willow’s hair while Willow buried her head into her naked chest.  Kennedy looked down and saw the journal Willow had been writing in on the floor.  “What’s in the notebook?”

Willow looked up and sighed quietly. “The journal I am going to keep of the beginnings of the academy.  I figure some Scoobies a few hundred years from now might want some insight into our beginnings.”

Kennedy pulled out of the embrace and jumped up quickly, her breasts bouncing up and down gently as she leaned back on the balls of her feet.  “Wow, yeah, tomorrow is the big day.”  She paused as Willow got up, smiling at the red head.  “You’re going to be head Mistress….”  She trailed off for a moment as she slid down to her knees and looked up-

“But you’ve always been my Mistress.”

Dawn Summers closed her eyes for a moment as sat back in the chair she was sitting in.  Dawn and her significant other were flying to England to join everyone else who was convening at the academy.  After many discussions with Giles and then with Angel out in LA, she had decided she would be one of the first of the new breed of Watchers.  Her lover was going to be joining them as well to study Magic.  As Dawn looked around Newark International Airport at all the people, she thought about what a fascinating year she had just experienced, ending up in Seattle and all.  She had fallen in love and grown up.  It was funny to her how little the people around her knew of where she was going and what she would be doing there.  Before she could finish these thoughts, the one she was in madly in love with came out of the bathroom and smiled at her.  Kit Holburn took her hand and headed towards the plane.

Willow feigned a smile as she looked down at her lover.  She had tired of these kinds of games, but they made Kennedy happy so she always played along.  Part of why Willow kept her distance from her at times was Kennedy treated her like a Goddess, or a Mistress; or at times a bit of both.  Sure games like these were sexy, she and Tara had never played…never got the chance…

Kennedy looked up at her lovingly and smiled, leaning her breasts forward.  “Mistress, may I touch You?”

Willow looked down at the girl and nodded, unzipping her black pants.  Kennedy eagerly leaned forward, slid her Owner’s purple panties to the floor, and started to lick.  As Kennedy stimulated the hood of Willow’s clit, all Willow could think about was how pointless all of Kennedy’s lusting felt.  She felt empty as her hands ran over Kennedy’s hair gently, going through the motions.  Suddenly she stammered in pleasure as Kennedy rolled her tongue around broadly.  After all, Kennedy was good at going down on her.  All the practice on those innocent girls she corrupted at boarding school Willow presumed.  Tara never had been great at oral sex, their relationship had been more hugs and kisses and hand holding.  Really, they should be in bed anyhow.  They had a big day ahead of them after all.  Her lover slid two fingers inside of her, moving them around slowly.  Willow had to admit she felt good right now; she needed the release badly.  Kennedy pulled them out and leaned her face back in, her tongue beginning to stroke and tease at the Witch’s hood gently before her lips pressed down sending bolts of pleasure all through her lover’s body.  Kennedy started muttering about pleasing her Goddess and things of the like when she buried her face inside Willow, looking for the spot she knew drove Willow crazy.  Her sucking at Willow’s clit finally made her give in.  Willow buckled and fell forward into Kennedy’s arms.

***The Next Morning***

“Holy shit, this is dope!”  Faith looked out the window of their car towards the huge castle in front of her.  She turned towards Vi, Caridad, and Lauren, smiling at them.  They had just gotten back into country after spending time in Germany taking out a Hundekopf demon.  “From what Red said, I get my own smaller castle behind the actual castle.  Perks of being ‘Mistress of Slayage’ I guess.”  Faith giggled at the last part and smiled, thinking naughty thoughts.

Vi rolled her eyes and mocked, “Um, Madam, um, Faith…I want to be the best Slayer I can be, I’ll do anything.”  She let out a mock moan and everyone in the car besides the driver laughed.

Caridad leaned forward from her spot in the middle on the long limo like seat they sat in towards the driver.  “What is your name dear?”

The young woman in the front seat looked back slightly, but refusing to make eye contact looked back towards the road.  “My name is Penelope, I’m a new Slayer.  I just arrived a month ago; Head Mistress Willow assigned me to drive you in.”

The last sentence got a wicked smile out of Faith.  “Head Mistress eh?”

Faith, even though a lot more light hearted than before her prison stay, was still Faith.  When she was around her team she was often quiet, spending many nights brooding or thrashing vampires.  She did not really speak to anyone outside of her teammates and the other Scoobies except for Angel, who she kept in almost daily contact with.  Faith had hand picked them both, finding them to have the most potential out of any of the new Slayers.  Vi had especially been hand picked, her performance in the final battle against The First had impressed Faith so much she nearly got into a fistfight with Kennedy over who would have her on their team.  Not that she needed an excuse to knock out Kennedy.  Caridad and Vi were, besides Kennedy, the best of the active Slayers besides Buffy and Faith.  Sent all around the world to fight whatever comes their way the three of them had become quite the badass combination.

They had picked up Lauren about five months before when they were last in the states.  She had started out in Cleveland working with Xander and his people, but they had concluded she would be better off here learning at the academy.  They had picked her up and taken her on a rather bumpy ride through Canada, stopping to slay three vampire clans.  Then there was the Siren in Belgium who made Caridad strip for some vampires to humiliate her, before Faith could kill it.  Lauren would rather not talk about how she felt about seeing Caridad naked except for a pair of silver platform heels, swinging from a poll.  Yeah, avoid those thoughts.

Willow had already been awake for a while when Kennedy woke up after their late night escapades.  Her lover had gone out while Willow was in the shower for a morning run, leaving Willow alone to finish her journal entry from the previous night and finish writing back to Angel.  As she typed back to Angel she found herself opening up to him, they had become friendly over the past two years much as Faith had with him.  As she continued, she found herself writing about Kennedy-

Things have been strained between Kennedy and me recently.  I love her a lot but sometimes she is too much for me.  We have fought over some petty things in the past two years.  Occasionally, I disappear for a week or ten days, sometimes I just need to get away and think.  I have many bad dreams Angel, but I am sure you know what that feels like.  Kennedy is always okay at first but then she will make some sort of little aside which says to me she really is not.  She is also jealous of any friends I visit, particularly Lilac and Xander, which I do not get at all….

There was a knock at her door before she could finish the sentence.  Willow got up out of her chair and walked to the door.  She opened the door and found a girl standing at the door.  The girl’s presence came as no surprise, as for the past three months she had been there every morning.  “Good morning Ashley, is breakfast ready?”  Willow smiled at the girl.

Ashley looked down slightly, finally in the past few weeks getting over her nerves and becoming more comfortable around Willow.  “Madam, breakfast is ready; Faith and the Alpha Team are on their way, their driver called about thirty minutes ago.”

Willow walked into the hall and shut the door to her bedroom behind them.  “Great, wow, today is the big day I guess?”  Willow gave pause at Ashley’s perplexed look and smiled at the girl.  “I have no idea what I am even going to say.  I’m not really one for speeches; maybe I’ll just leave those to Faith?”  They made their way down the stairs into the main hall of her private castle and out into the greens.  Ashley paused and walked about one hundred feet away so Willow could take care of her daily trip to the marker that had been left out in honor of those who had fallen in battle- Anya, Jenny Calendar, Kendra, Larry, Amanda, amongst others.  Behind them, more prominently, was a small separate marker for Tara.  Every morning when Ashley came to get her for breakfast, Willow liked to go to the marker.  Usually she just said a few words to Tara’s, but today she just smiled and ran her hand over the surface slowly.  She then turned around and caught up with Ashley, making their way down the half-mile trail to the Academy of Slayage.

The two young women made their way into the main dining hall.  About fifty young Slayers were sitting down talking between themselves, waiting to eat, or beginning to bring out the food. By the time all arrived within the next week they would have seventy.

Willow put her hand on Ashley’s shoulder and nodded towards the main table, inviting her to join.  Ashley looked at her with a mix of fear and shock but followed her obediently.  As they walked towards the long table at the front Willow leaned over and whispered to her, “you are going to sit with us at meals and in meetings from now on, I want you in on everything we do; after all you are my personal assistant.”  Ashley looked at her again in shock but smiled as they separated to sit.  Willow sat down in her usual seat in the front of the round table.

Willow turned back to her right to see Kennedy coming in freshly showered and dressed from her morning training.  Kennedy came and sat down in the seat to the right of Willow, leaning over to kiss her good morning.  By now, breakfast service had begun.  Among the items on the menu were waffles, hash browns, biscuits, and sausage.  Also served were tea, juice, and coffee. They all dug into their breakfast.  Idle chatter passed back and forth between those at the table.

Willow turned to Ashley and smiled to try to make the girl comfortable.  “Ashley do you have a partner yet?”  She knew the girl did of course, but did not know whom, so the question was not just for small talk.

Ashley sipped her tea and thought for a moment.  “Her name is Dawn Summers…B-B-Buffy’s sister.”  Ashley was still nervous around her mentor.

Willow lit up at the mention of the Summer’s sisters.  “Oh wonderful.  Dawn is going to be a Watcher.”  Ashley smiled back at her, growing a little more confident.  After a silent moment, Willow whispered, “I wish her sister was here.”  Only Ashley heard her.  Suddenly, part of the room became quiet; the huge oak double doors opened and standing in the doorway smirking at Willow were Faith and her team.

They met about half way through the hall near the middle and exchanged hugs and greetings as all of the Slayers looked on, trying not to stare.  Willow realized everyone was waiting for them and walked up a few steps, the heels of her shoes echoing through the room.  “Alright everyone, there will be time for proper introductions soon.  We will reconvene in one hour for orientation.  Everyone should have a partner by now, but if you see someone who looks lost please direct him or her.  Dismissed.”  All of the girls got up and started to file out quietly.

Willow turned to Kennedy and nodded for her to follow.  “Ashley you are also with me, Giles, Alpha team…”  She paused and smiled at Faith.  “We will see you in an hour.”  They walked the other way and out the doors back towards their castle to make last minute preparations.

Giles watched them leave and then turned towards those who remained.  He thought for a moment and looked past Faith towards Vi and Caridad.  “I could use your help outside preparing, if you would help me?”

Vi nodded, turning towards Lauren.  “You’ll join us too.”  Lauren filed in with them and they started to move.

Kit Holburn looked over at her lover and smiled, snuggling up to her tightly.  Her and Dawn stretched their feet out on the bed and sat quietly, holding each other.  Today had been a long day for both young women, spending a good portion of the day on an airplane heading towards England and now sitting in bed in their hotel room.  Tomorrow morning they and a Slayer named Persephone would make their way to the new Slayage Academy to begin their training.  Dawn was to become a Watcher, Kit to learn Magick.  All they wanted to do right now was relax.  Kit ran her hand through Dawn’s beautiful brown hair and sighed deeply before speaking.  “So, what do you think will be their reaction…”  She paused, turning to her lover to kiss her gently on the mouth.  “To, you know, us being ‘recently gay’ and all.”

Dawn smiled at the reference to the Buffy-Bot.  “Oh I’m sure they will be fine.  Willow and Kennedy will be of course, Giles will too.”

Running her hand over Dawn’s face and down to her neckline, Kit leaned in and kissed the neck softly holding her lips there for a few moments.  She then looked up at Dawn and kissed her mouth, pulling away slowly and putting her head back on her lover’s shoulder, falling asleep a few minutes later.

Willow Rosenberg looked out at the assembled masses and smiled.  She stood next to the podium where she would be speaking to the young women slowly assembling below her in a few minutes and she was strangely not nervous.  After all, they were her young women below her.  Many of them were scared or uncertain about their callings and the powers they had.  Many of them looked up to her, Kennedy, and the others who had been in Sunnydale.  About 99% of them did a little bit of both.  Willow found it all a bit much, but she was glad they had someone to look up to at their age.  When she was younger, before she met Buffy, there were not many positive female role models in her life.  Sure, there was her mother but they had never truly connected.  Their lack of any sort of communication since long before Sunnydale became a big huge golf hole was good enough evidence.  She looked over to see Patrick coming up onto the stage.  He was not exactly hiding how he was avoiding eye contact with all around him.  She could tell something was up, but finding out what would have to wait until later.

Giles was already seated and going over his notes for what he would say.  She had not even noticed her come on the stage, but Lilac had also seated herself to the left of Giles quietly looking down at the floor.

Suddenly Faith came into view on the grounds and almost the entire crowd became silent.  The brown haired Slayer paused at their silence and looked at them all, shaking her head and muttering, “I need to get used to this.”  She walked parallel to where they all sat and up the stairs to the stage, stopping for a second to nod to Caridad, Vi, and Lauren, who were on the side of the stage.  Faith gave a nod to Giles and with her back turned to the crowd a quick smile to Willow.  Her seat was at the end of the row, next to Willow.

With everyone arrived, now was time for the orientation to begin.  Willow made her way to the podium and stared out at everyone.  Her eyes stopped to look at Ashley and Kennedy, who sat in the front row next to each other.  Kennedy gave her a wink and Willow sighed.  “Welcome to the academy everyone.  I am your Head Mistress, Willow Rosenberg.”

She paused for a second as Faith muffled a chuckle.  “As some of you who have been here for a few months while we prepared know, the academy has been about a year in the making.  A few years ago, I took part in the creation of what you all are now.  Through my Magic came the activation of every potential Slayer.  Every girl who had the power in her to become one would have the strength and skills… but forget about all of those slogans for now.  A lot of you are probably scared or apprehensive.  You are not alone.  Here, at the academy you will have friends who are like you, no matter if you are here to learn the skills to be what used to be called a watcher…”  She trailed off and looked over at Giles.  “Say, did we rename that yet?”  Turning back to the crowd, she continued.  “Anyway, whether you are here to learn those skills, to learn Magic, or because you are a Slayer, you will never be alone.  Before I met Buffy Summers, I always felt alone.  Sure I had friends…”  Willow paused for a moment and thought of Jesse for the first time in a long time.  What would he think of all of this?  “…but at the same time, I felt completely alone.  I did not feel right in my own skin.  When Buffy came along and I became part of the group which would completely rewrite the book on Slaying, I finally felt like I had a purpose.  When there were problems, I had people who would help me out.  I hope the first thing we give each one of you here is a place in the world, a place you feel safe.  Thank you.”

Willow sat down to mild applause but not before tapping Faith on the knee gently, as if to “tag” her next to speak.  Faith hopped up, walked towards the podium, and looked over all the young women sitting before her.  She looked to the left towards the Alpha team and nodded, and they in turn nodded back.

“Well what’s up ya’ll?  My name is Faith and I will be your ‘Head Mistress of Slayage’.”  She paused to think of what to say.  These young women were hanging on her every movement and word.  “But it doesn’t matter if I am your leader.  I just happen to be a few years older.  I became the Slayer when the previous one, a girl named Kendra, died.”  Again, Faith paused for a moment and then smiled.  “But luckily for me, I had a girl named Buffy Summers there with me.  See, turns out because B had kicked it once before, so there were now two Slayers.  I messed up a lot; hell so did B.  The best thing to ever happen to me though was having the two of us.”  Faith stopped and looked back at Willow and Giles and then back towards the audience.  “But there wasn’t just me and B.  We had Red over here, and Giles.”  Faith looked down for a moment, remembering what a dork Wesley was back then.  Closing her eyes for a moment to keep tears from tracing down her eyes she continued.  “The point here is; we had a team.  There was no I, ok maybe B got a bit carried away for awhile…anyway, no one here is going to be alone…”  She turned her head and pointed towards the Alpha Team.  “My girls over there, we are the best damn Slayers to ever live I know of.  Each one of you is going to be broken up into teams.  Before B and me, the Slayer was alone.  I vow to you right now, never again.  I do not want to go all riot girl on ya, but we are our own destiny. With the help of new friends,” and towards Willow, “and old.  I don’t really know what else to say, see you tomorrow kids.”

Faith sat down and Giles came up to the podium.  “Eh, yes, thank you Faith and Willow.  I am Rupert Giles; I will be the headmaster for the academy.  I was the last of the old Watchers remaining in active duty when we closed the Sunnydale Hellmouth.  The academy has been in planning for the past year by Ms. Rosenberg and myself.  As both she and Faith have pointed out, the Slayer deserves a fighting chance.  The academy will teach you all how to use that fighting chance.  We will rely of active participation to educate you.  You can only learn by doing, as I learned the hard way with Buffy…”  Giles paused for a moment and looked away, wondering what Buffy was doing right now.  “…There will be great expectations of you, to train and keep up with your studies at all times.  Once we have a proper group of educators on staff, we will begin to have elective courses each semester.  You will each be required to take a few courses to enliven your minds.”  Giles stopped for about thirty seconds to let everything he had said settle in. “For the rest of the day, the grounds are yours to explore in groups with either Ms Rosenberg, myself, or Lilac as your guide.  Curfew will be twenty-hundred hours tonight, after tonight curfew will be later but for now I want everyone to settle in early and get to know your roommate.  Alright, everyone is dismissed, please group up with anyone of the three of us please for your tour.”

The Slayers and Witches below got up, talking amongst themselves while forming groups.  Willow and Giles seemed to be the most popular, only a few young women going over to Lilac, her quiet appearance seemed to intimidate many of the girls.

Willow walked the grounds in front of her castle for about twenty minutes before the women she was meeting up with finally showed up.

“Hey Red, great speech today.”  Willow turned around and smiled at Faith, walking over to her to hug her tightly.  Faith held her close for a minute, and then whispered in her ear.  “How ya holding up?”

Willow smiled as she pulled away.  “Better lately, I still have the nightmares, sometimes I just feel like I shouldn’t be doing this; why do I still feel guilty sometimes Faith?”

Faith pulled her tight again and let Willow cry on her shoulder.  Once the dust cleared in what used to be Sunnydale Willow and Faith had gotten close, realizing they had a lot in common.  Both had gone all big bad at one point and came back to redeem themselves.  Both had doubts about their choices and their current place in the world, and they had become close because of those feelings.  Faith let Willow cry, knowing the girl had been holding it in for a long time.

About a mile away, Kennedy stood hidden amongst some trees, disgust ridden on her face.
