After a long war that pushed women into the workforce, a new government works hard to reaffirm more traditional gender roles. Lucille Magyar became a nurse during the war and now struggles with Independent Female Syndrome, a serious disease that causes women to be defiant and unruly. After beginning therapy, Miss Magyar learns a cure has been developed.

Independent Female Syndrome: Author’s Note

Independent Female Syndrome was inspired by two books. The first was about the changing role of women in the home and workplace between World War I and World War II. The second was about the rise of the suburbs and interstate highway system after World War II. Some of the anti-feminist rhetoric expressed by opponents of women in the workplace during that era bled into my fantasies (as always!) and I began scribbling out an outline.

On the EMC end of things, Vendatrix’s There Are No Bad Girls and Downing Street’s New Girl were huge influences.

I really hope you enjoyed this story. I had a great time writing it.

Newsletter #2! COLD here where I live after being warm all week. 

This week I wrote over 2,000 words on a new story called Independent Female Syndrome. It is about a patriarchal society and the aftermath of allowing women into the workforce during a war. It is coming along quite nicely and will probably require at least a few more weeks of work. I expect it to come out somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 words. 

I also began work on two Patron backed stories. I wrote about 500 each on The Bimbo Chronicles: A Submission Of Ones Own and Love Falls Rejuvenation Spa. I have very developed outlines for both and the first promised 2000 words for $20 a month Patrons should be finished by the end of March.
