The Ballad of Becky D’arcy

Something else I have been up to recently is publishing a number of short stories based in the Pleasure Bunnies universe. I do not know if I will ever write another full blown story in that universe, but I have collected a lot of odds and ends and half-written pieces over the years I thought are worth putting into an anthology. The first is The Ballad of Becky D’arcy, who originally appeared as Jessica Kanko’s BFF and fellow brainwashee in The Pleasure Bunnies. A few readers have suggested I write more about her, and I decided to examine her as a “bad luck” Bunnie who is never quite right for anyone. Her sadness and desire to belong really drove this story.

Tell me, what did you think of The Ballad of Becky D’arcy?

True Love: The College Years

I don’t remember a lot about the proposed “True Love: The College Years” story I was going to write about 10 years ago, but I know I scrapped the project after a few months. One semester (likely fall of 2000 or maybe spring 2001) I carried around a small notebook where I scribbled ideas for the story, which would take place after True Love. I don’t remember a lot about it, the outline is long-lost, but I do remember some details.

This was long before I retrofit the story into the Pleasure Bunnie universe, so a lot of the ideas would not have worked anyway. Oh well.

The Romance & Submission of Kira Wetzel

For awhile, on and off, I have been working on this story. The Romance & Submission of Kira Wetzel, originally, I envisioned this as a merging of a few of my own stories along with some other long time favorites. I think Anal Princesses is the closest of my own, with other influences coming from stories like The Tape Slaves.

A few readers have guessed this takes place in The Pleasure Bunnies universe and I would say it does, but in a near future (there are references to ten years, which sounds right). A few settings are very familiar, and so will a few characters in later chapters. However, the previous stories may not be directly referenced. Consider this story some sort of Pleasure Bunnies OVA.

What do you think of this story so far?

The Pleasure Bunnies: I Guess I Owe You Dinner

After finishing off the previous Pleasure Bunnies story (see below), I had a number of “deleted scenes” remaining. Over the winter holiday, I decided to write up one of them and make a chapter length story out of it. The Pleasure Bunnies: I Guess I Owe You Dinner is what came out of that work.

More coming soon: A new Pleasure Bunnie story and an untitled story I can only describe as “Pleasure Bunnies meets Friday Night Lights.”

Final Chapter of Princess Sabina

The final chapter of Princess Sabina & The Kingdom of Hershin is now online.

That’s going to be it for me for a little while now that I am caught up on my stories. I have ideas for another Pleasure Bunnies story, but the outline needs a LOT of work. There are two other ideas bouncing around in my head as well. I have a lot of real life responsibilities for the rest of fall term, so I might not be able to write for a little bit. However, over winter break I should have more time.

What did you think of Princess Sabina?

Change Of Plans: The Temple Of Love

Listening to The Sisters Of Mercy the other night while writing reminded me that, originally, the story which became True Love was going to be called The Temple Of Love, after the SOM song. My lady friend of the time, the one who inspired Kimberly from The Pleasure Bunnies, talked me out of it. I don’t really remember what the reasoning originally was behind the name “True Love,” but I did finally work it in a few chapters before the finale.

Character Inspiration: Sarah Collins

Sarah Collins was not really based on anyone real, although a co-worker from my teen years did inspire her visually somewhat.  I despise the “retro” fetishizing of homemakers and supposed old timey values that only sort of existed outside of misogynist’s dreams.  That said, the docile, eager to please, housewife is quite an attractive character type when done well.  It would figure, I thought, that Lauren would think the best way to fix her alcoholic, out of control, mother would be to have her brainwashed into mindless docility.  The character became, for me, more a comment on Lauren’s immaturity than anything else.  True Love wouldn’t be the same without Sarah and I expect her to show up in the Pleasure Bunnie universe rather soon.

Character Inspiration: Lauren Collins

There was no specific person who inspired Lauren other than the stereotypical mall goth meets “alternative model” (way before stupid sites like Suicide Girls) from the Internet. I just wanted to write about that archetype via EMC. Her assumptions and delusions of her own grandeur were something I wish I had spent more time exploring while writing True Love, but as a few years went by I lost interest in the character and, after a lot of consideration, she ended up with the fate she received.

Originally I had considerably different plans for Lauren. Sometime soon I will have a feature on here called “change of plans” where I will discuss some of the plot direction changes I have made over the years while planning stories.

As for the future, I can say I have penciled Lauren into a scene for a future Pleasure Bunnies story I am planning. Whether the reader will know it is her is something I have not decided yet.
